Awards have been annonced and handed out during the International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences:

ICASS X

On 16 June 2021 in Arkhangelsk, Russia three recipients were bestowed Honorary Lifetime Memberships to IASSA:

  • Dr. Gail Fondahl
  • Dr. Natalia Novikova
  • Dr. Piers Vitebsky

And the Dr. Gabriella Nordin-Sköld IASSA Service Award to:

  • Ms. Alona Yefimenko

First Victoria Petrasheva Award in 2021:

1st award was awarded during ICASS X to Nenets scholar Dr. Roza Laptander for her outstanding research that is deeply rooted in her community. Her research focuses on Indigenous perspectives, values, cultural practices, and traditions and is striking for its collaborative efforts in applying Indigenous knowledge to the contemporary needs of the Arctic community.

ICASS IX

On 11 June 2017 in Umeå, Sweden, two recipients were bestowed Honorary Lifetime Memberships to IASSA:
  •   Dr. Ann Fienup-Riordan
  •   Mr. Carl Christian Puju Olsen

ICASS VIII

On 25 May 2014 in Prince George, Canada, three recipients were bestowed Honorary Lifetime Memberships to IASSA:
  •   Dr. Julie Cruikshank
  •   Dr. Igor Krupnik
  •   Dr. Oran Young

ICASS VII

On 24 June 2011 in Akureyri, Iceland, one award was presented to:
  • Dr. Anna Kerttula de Echave

ICASS VI

On 23 August 2008 in Nuuk, Greenland, three recipients were bestowed Honorary Lifetime Memberships to IASSA:
  • Dr. Ludger Müller-Wille (founder and first president of IASSA)
  • Mr. Robert Petersen (former IASSA council member & Vice-President 1995-1998)
  • Dr. Ernest S. (Tiger) Burch, Jr. (The 'Legendary' Arctic Anathropologist)
